Punjab Nahi Jaungi, the upcoming film from Nadeem Beyg which stars Humayun Saeed, Mehwish Hayat, Urwa Hocane and Ahmed Ali Butt and is slated to appear in cinemas nationwide on Eid ul Azha, has just released its full original soundtrack.

Of the six songs that make up this record, three songs have been produced by Shiraz Uppal who seems to have left his Jhuki Jhuki days behind and seems to be thriving in the role of film music producer.

Uppal has co-sung two songs; on the mellow ‘Ae Dil’, he is joined by Junita Gandhi while ‘Ranjha’ features Uppal alongside Asrar. In addition, ‘Raunaq e Ashiqui’, another Uppal-produced track, is sung by Nirmal Roy.

Ahmed Ali Butt, who is also featured on the soundtrack of Jawani Phir Nahi Ani, joins Damia Farooq and Rizwan on the peppy ‘Raat Ka Nasha’ while Shani Arshad steals the show with the song ‘Tere Naal Naal’ that is sung by Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan, penned by Sabir Zafir and produced by Arshad. It is without question the highlight of the album. Sahir Ali Bagga also makes his presence felt with the song ‘24/7 Lak Hilna’ which features Meesha Shafi alongside Bagga.

While not groundbreaking by any stretch of the imagination, these songs seem to fit in with the narrative of the film and that is perhaps the real purpose of this kind of music.

The full OST is available on a number of digital music platforms including Patari, Taazi iTunes, Amazon and Saavn. Check it out.
