Actor Felicity Jones, star of several popular films like Rogue One and The Theory of Everything, is all set to take on the role of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in an upcoming film called On the Basis Of Sex.

Going on floors in Montreal this September, the film follows the “travails of Ginsburg as she faced numerous obstacles to her fight for equal rights throughout her career”. Daniel Stiepleman has written the script while Robert W. Cort is producing the project.

Mimi Leder, a woman, will direct the film. Whether its because the success of Wonder Woman has made studios a bit more open to the idea remains unclear at this point but given the fact that Leder’s past experience includes directing several episodes of shows like The Leftovers and Shameless, one can say she’s not without merit.

The film will be an important watch primarily because the story of Ruth Bader Ginsburg is so very compelling. Reporting on the story, Deadline noted: “Ginsberg was appointed to the Supreme Court in 1993 by then-President Bill Clinton, becoming only the second female justice (after Sandra Day O’Connor) and the first Jewish female justice. Prior to that, she developed a reputation as a keen advocate for the advancement of women’s rights.”
