LAHORE: Former PML-Q MPA Dr Samia Amjed has announced joining the PTI and reposed confidence in the leadership of Imran Khan.
The former PML-Q legislator from Khanewal made the announcement after calling on the PTI leadership in Islamabad. Talking to The News, Dr Samia stated the only genuine opposition party in the country at the moment was PTI.
She said Imran Khan was the real hope under the current circumstances when the country was being governed by the rulers who wanted status quo to protect their misdeeds. Dr Samia stated as a staunch PTI activist, she would play her individual role in the Imran Khan’s drive for change and to purge the country of corruption.
Dr Samia has been a very active member of Punjab PML-Q who served as MPA on reserved seats for women for two consecutive terms including 2002 and 2008. She sided with PML-Q at a critical juncture in the post 2008 scenario when major chunk of its MPAs joined the unification bloc and extended support to PML-N.She has also been a very active member of the House in the legislation process but finally bade goodbye to PML-Q on Wednesday.
