KARACHI: Bank Alfalah Limited (BAFL) has announced the resignation of Atif Bajwa from the office of president and the chief executive officer (CEO) of the bank, a statement said on Wednesday.
“Nauman Ansari, former CEO Faysal Bank has been appointed as the successor of Bajwa, who has stepped down for personal reasons,” the official statement said. While welcoming the appointment of the new official, Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Chairman of the Board, in his message, lauded the outgoing official for his valuable contribution to the growth of the bank.
“I am happy to announce the appointment of Nauman Ansari. He will provide strong and effective leadership to meet the bank’s strategic objectives and build the franchise further. We wish him success in his new role,” the chairman of the board observed.
Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan further added that he was confident that the banking sector of Pakistan would continue to show resilience whilst positively contributing towards Pakistan’s economy.
It must be noted that market expects that Atif Bajwa was being considered for the post of the governor State Bank of Pakistan; however, the government did not confirm the reports.
Ansari has served various banks during his twenty-four year professional career that includes leading institutions like SCB, BoA, ABN Amro, Fortis Bank and Samba. He joined Faysal Bank as Group Head, Corporate & Investment Banking in 2008 and was appointed President & CEO in 2014.
