The rupee weakened against the dollar in the interbank market on Monday, owing to fresh surge in the demand for foreign currency, traders said.

The rupee lost two paisas to close at 104.89 to the dollar as compared to the previous week’s closing of 104.87.

Traders said the rupee posted minor losses, as importers bought dollars to pay their bills.
