The world’s most famous supermodel and fashion icon, Kate Moss, is launching a limited-edition jewellery collection in collaboration with the Brazilian designer Ara Vartanian. This will be the first time the model will be trying her hand at designing jewellery.
“Ilove jewellery,” Kate Moss told Vogue. “I can’t walk past a jewellery shop without seeing something I love. I would always hunt at Christmas for the smallest box and hope there was a piece of jewellery inside.” Earlier in 1997, Moss toldVogue, “It’s my drug of choice.”
The idea originated because Moss loved the kind of jewellery which Vartanian makes. “Ara always wore this pendant and he explained to me it was an amulet, which brings good energy.”
“When we spoke about working together I said I wanted to make more jewellery like that,” Moss continued, “Pieces that have meaning and that you can wear every day.”Vartanian loves the freedom with which Moss adorns her jewels. “Kate wears jewellery in a very free way,” said Vartanian. “She just throws it on.”
“But these pieces aren’t about fashion,” explained Vartanian. “The stones and attitude give them a powerful energy, they are forever.” The Brazilian designer also shared that the collection has used a lot of red garnets because it’s the model’s birthstone.
