Snooker events in Bishkek postponed

KARACHI: The Asian Team Snooker Championship 2017 and the 6-Red Snooker Championship 2017 scheduled to be held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, later this month, have been postponed. Pakistan Billiards & Snooker Association (PBSA) president Munawwar Hussain Shaikh said he had received a communication in this regard from the Asian Confederation of Billiard Sports (ACBS) on Thursday. “The ACBS has informed us that due to the numerous human casualties as a result of a landslide on April 29 in Uzgen region of Kyrgyzstan, its board has decided to postpone the twin championships,” the PBSA president said. Mohammad Sajjad, Asjad Iqbal, Mohammad Bilal and Babar Masih are to represent Pakistan in the twin events, originally planned to be held from May 13 to 19.

PFF chief injured in road accident

KARACHI: The president of FIFA-recognised Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Faisal Saleh Hayat was seriously injured in a road accident at the Gojra-Faisalabad motorway late Wednesday night. Sources close to him told ‘The News’ that his condition was out of danger. However, his driver Qasim was in a critical condition. Both are receiving treatment at the Allied Hospital in Faisalabad. They were going towards Jhang, which is the home town of Faisal, who has recently joined Pakistan People’s Party. He is also the executive committee member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
