Chief of General Staff says Operation Raddul Fasaad to be intensified

ISLAMABAD: Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Bilal Akbar on Wednesday telephoned Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, hours after at least six people were martyred in a suicide attack in Lahore.

The General, who oversaw a security operation as Director General of the paramilitary Rangers in Karachi before being promoted, stressed the need to intensify Operation Raddul Fasaad and enhance coordination between law enforcement agencies to curb acts of terrorism.

Four security personnel and two government officials embraced martyrdom, while 22 were injured in a suicide attack on a convoy of census teams on Lahore’s Bedian Road.

The security sources have confirmed the martyrdom of four soldiers, while the Punjab government spokesperson said two civilians were killed in the explosion that rocked the area at 07:45 am.

The forensic teams are collected evidence from the crime scene and the head of the suspected suicide bomber has also been found.
