International economic expert from China’s Peking University and former World Bank senior vice president Prof Justin Yifu Lin called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday and exchanged words on Pak-China relations, strengthening of Pakistan’s economy, establishment of industrial parks, and economic stability of the country.
While talking on the occasion Prof Justin Yifu Lin said the chief minister played a leading role in Pakistan’s progress particularly Punjab and his services for the progress and development of people of Punjab were commendable. Shahbaz Sharif was a true leader who had taken very important initiatives to strengthen the economy of the province, he added. The examples of Punjab’s progress under the leadership of Shahbaz Sharif are given in foreign countries as well. Prof Justin Yifu Lin said: “We should learn from the significant achievements by Shahbaz Sharif and I was pleased to meet Shahbaz Sharif today.”
While talking on the occasion, the chief minister said CPEC has given a new start to Pak-China friendship. The unexpected development of China is a role model for rest of the world. Due to CPEC, Pakistan is on the way to progress, the CM said and added: “We would never forget the gift of China’s President Xi Jinping in the shape of CEPC. CPEC’s immense benefits have started revealing. CPEC is a game changer to strengthen Pakistan’s economy. Some entities are worried from the gift of CPEC. These entities are making conspiracies against the CPEC but no such conspiracy will succeed. CPEC will move forward and Pakistan will make progress. CPEC will benefit other countries of the region. CPEC is not only the billion dollars investment but it is that path of progress which will benefit the entire region and the outcomes of this incredible project will fasten the future’s enlightened journey and will enhance regional cooperation.” The CM said for the establishment of industrial parks China has played an outstanding role. The Punjab government likes to benefit from the expertise of China for the establishment of industrial parks especially garments industrial zone, he said.
“We are thankful to Chinese leadership, government and people for their cooperation in the progress and development of Pakistan. There is no precedent like 36 billion dollar Chinese investment in the energy sector under the CPEC. Energy is indispensable for the fast track economic development and prosperity of the country. Under the CPEC, fast-track work on different projects in Pakistan including Punjab is in progress and many projects are near completion. China’s President anti-corruption vision is splendid,” the CM said.
The PML-N government has adopted a zero tolerance policy against corruption in the province. There is indiscriminate action against those involved in corruption. Transparency and merit are the hallmarks of my government and even the international institutions are acknowledging corruption reduction in Pakistan, the CM said. kidney, liver institute: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif chaired a meeting on Sunday which reviewed progress on Pakistan Kidney & Liver Transplant Institute project, human resource affairs, and establishment of Hepatitis Filter Clinics.
During the meeting, the decision has also been taken to establish endowment fund for Pakistan Kidney & Liver Transplant Institute. Chairing the meeting, the CM said work is in progress on the huge project of kidney and liver medical treatment facility in the provincial capital. The CM said poor and dismal patients will get free medical treatment in Pakistan Kidney & Liver Transplant Institute and this 470 bed institute will prove to be a milestone for treatment of kidney and liver patients. Besides provision of medical facilities to kidney and liver patients, the research work will also be done in this institute to prevent spread of these diseases. The CM said the first phase of this hospital will be completed in the end of this year and it will start providing modern medical facilities to the patients. The CM said there would be high quality human resource and state of the art machinery available in the institute. Third party audit of the human resource appointed for this institute is also essential and there should be some set up for modern training of this human resource as well, he added. The CM instructed not only to prepare a model and plan for the training and refresh courses of human resource but also for a horticulture plan for the beauty of the institute. The CM said the Punjab government is endeavoring hard on hepatitis control programme and that is why first Hepatitis Filter Clinic has been established at the site of Pakistan Kidney & Liver Transplant Institute and this clinic is busy in providing medical facilities to liver patients. The CM said that the same Hepatitis Filter Clinics will also be established in every district of the province. The CM said that these Hepatitis Filter Clinics will have nothing to do with the health department but instead PKLI will be responsible to run these clinics. Programme for the establishment of PKLI and Hepatitis Filter Clinics is a great project for people’s welfare. With hard work, courage, and determination we have to move forward and complete these projects, he said.
