KARACHI: The official website of Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) is wasting precious money as it fails to give updated information to the visitors.
This scribe pointed out in January last year that the PTF website was not being updated.
The event calendar for 2017 is nowhere at the site in spite of the fact that two months of the current year have passed. The website has information of the last four months of 2016 only.
Besides, many latest reports are not available at the website. The last news story shown there is of December 14, 2016. The site also does not have any report about the Annual General Meetings of the federation.
The most glaring absence is of information relating to the recent Davis Cup tie. Davis Cup action returned to Pakistan after 12 years but the website has nothing about it.
The Davis Cup history of the country on the website is also not updated: it gives information only up to 2005. The fact that Pakistan moved into the Group-1 once again last year is not there.
The website also does not mention that Pakistan will play against Hong Kong next month in Islamabad in the semi-final of Asia/Oceania Group-II.
The website does not mention PTF’s junior tennis initiative and many other important measures taken in the past year such as the commencement of tennis 10 programme and visits of ATF’s president, and International Tennis Federation’s Senior Development Officer for Asia Suresh Menon.
It is also to be noted that players’ rankings are of December 16, 2015, which shows how poorly this official site is being managed.
Last year, PTF secretary Khalid Rehmani told ‘The News’ that some key information was missing and vowed that soon these issues would be addressed.
