Tagline: This is the story of a lifetime.
- Drama; tells the story of a young black man from childhood to adulthood as he struggles to find his place in the world.
- Based on the play In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue by Tarell Alvin McCraney.
- Had a budget of $1.5 million; has made around $28 million since its release in October last year.
- Received critical acclaim upon release, drawing praise for the direction and performances, although some, including actor Samuel L. Jackson, have dismissed the film as an ‘Oscar-bait’ movie.
- The three actors who play the film’s protagonist Chiron - Rhodes, Sanders, and Hibbert - did not meet during production; the director wanted them to shape their own portrayals of the character without being influenced by each other.
