SC disposes of petition against sugar mills of Sharif family

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday disposed of petitions against three Sharif family sugar mills shifting from Toba Tek Singh to Rahim Yar Khan over withdrawal of application by the petitioner, JWD Sugar Mills.

The court also dismissed petition filed by Ittefaq Sugar Mills and remarked that the Lahore High Court was hearing the same matter. A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar and comprising Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Faisal Arab heard the review appeals filed by JWD Sugar Mills and Ittefaq Sugar Mills against February 9 apex court order. During the course of proceedings, Barrister Ali Gohar, counsel for JWD Sugar Mills appeared before the court and informed that Lahore High Court had granted relief to his client over the point and pleaded the court to withdraw the petition.
