Restoration of 100% pension to widows, family members of pensioners demanded

The restoration of 100 per cent pension to the widows’ and family of pension holders will make their lives better and comfortable especially of those having low pension and handsome increase in minimum pension and it will also be gift from the government.

This was said by Association for Welfare of Retired Persons (AWRP) President Manzoor Hussain after taking oath on his re-election as president for the year 2017-18 along with the whole panel of pioneers of the association

Manzoor Hussain who is retired Auditor General of Pakistan and is fully aware the hardships of pensioners. He said the government in the past did a lot for low pension holders but still there is a great need to facilitate their lives in old age. At present, the widows and family pension holders are getting 75 per cent of the pension of the deceased.

He called upon the Government to raise the medical allowance which was fixed on the pension drawn in 2010 and 10 per cent increase was given last year. It should be defreeze as the prices of medical facilities have flown to sky. The medical facilities in hospitals both in OPD and hospitalized ill pensioners should be increased and improved.

Manzoor Hussain also said that a great number of pensioners turned up for votes and showed their trust and confidence on the whole panel of pioneer group consisting of active, efficient and committed retired officers would be able retrieve maximum monetary and procedural facilities.

The president formed three committees to tackle various problems of retirees and pursue them in the Ministry of Finance and AGPR Islamabad. Vice president Sh. Farooq Naveed, Secretary General M. Moinduddin Siddiqui, Joint Secretary Ali Asghar Awan, Finance Secretary M. Ilyas Khokhar and other executive members expressed their views on the resolution of problems of retirees.
