Loved the cover story “Love, a four-letter word” by Iqra Asad! I agree with her take on the myth of “the one”. It’s definitely not easy to find that one compatible companion! The story “Do you know where our love is?” by Zarmeen Khalid was equally great!

I was wondering why the heart shaped balloons on the front page looked so black. Ed, printing was really bad this time and that’s the only upsetting part. Rest of the stuff was great!

Hello Editor,

Thank you for “My Teenage Years”! It is always fun to read about celebrities. The movie review “Here’s to the ones who dream” by Sameen Amer was also a great read. Everybody is talking about La La Land! And after reading the review, I feel like watching it. Please Ed, do publish reviews on a regular basis!

Query

Hello Ed,

I wanted to ask how we could send our write-ups. What should be the theme? Can people of all age groups write for your magazine? I have some stories and wish to send them for publication.

Fabia Adnan

You can pick any theme you like, but just make sure it’s interesting and relevant to youth. And of course, there are no age restrictions. Feel free to send your stories and articles at us.magthenews.com.pk.

Dear Editor,

I read “Trust Us” regularly; it is one of the best sections of your mag! I have few personal problems that I want to share with Guru. I think Guru can give me a better advice. Can I get Guru’s contact details?

Rohi, Karachi

We value your feedback! Send your problems to Guru at trustusproblemsyahoo.com

Hey Eddy,

I am super excited about the poetry competition! My friends call me a “boring soul” because I read and write poetry. I have sent my masterpiece for the competition, but I am not sure if it would qualify for the competition. Could you please tell me how good or bad my poem is?

Nadia Shiraz, Lahore

We are happy that you are excited about the competition! If you have sent your masterpiece, hope for the best. And to know how good your poem is, you will have to wait till the results are announced. Good luck, Nadia!

Salam Editor,

I guess Us is the only magazine that encourages youth to write poetry and get it published. I write poems on a regular basis and have sent the best ones to you guys. But, none of them has been published yet. Please help me know what to do.

Abrar Shahid

While writing anything for Us, you just have to keep the audience (youth) in mind. We don’t take poems that are kiddish! Go through the poems in “Poets’ corner” and you will get to know what sort of poems we take. Hope you make it!

Reflection

Narrated by

Abdullah (R.A.)

The Prophet (S.A.W) drew a square and then drew a line in the middle of it and let it extend outside the square and then drew several small lines attached to that central line, and said, “This is the human being, and this [the square], in his lease of life, encircles him from all sides [or has encircles him], and this [line], which is outside [the square], is his hope, and these small lines are the calamities and troubles [which may befall him], and if one misses him, another will snap [i.e. overtake] him, and if the other misses him, a third will snap [i.e. overtake] him.”
