An Indian website made a huge blunder when it used the name of former Pakistan cricket team captain Rashid Latif instead of Khalid Latif, as being linked to the Pakistan Super League match-fixing scandal.
The Pakistan Super League has been rocked by a match-fixing scandal which could possibly involve an international fixing syndicate. The names of a few players, including batsman Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif were exposed. Khalid Latif, along with his Islamabad United teammate Sharjeel Khan, was provisionally suspended by the PCB from playing in the PSL and was sent home.
However, an esteemed Indian website The Deccan Chronicle got it all wrong when they mentioned the name of Rashid Latif, instead of Khalid Latif, as being linked to the PSL match-fixing allegations.
On the contrary, Rashid Latif is known for being very strict against match-fixing. The wicket-keeper batsman was the first one to blow the whistle on match-fixing when he exposed his teammates for being allegedly involved in match-fixing in Pakistan’s tour of South Africa and Zimbabwe in 1995.
Rashid Latif, the 48-year-old played 37 Test matches for Pakistan and 166 One Day Internationals. He retired from international cricket when he played his last One Day International against South Africa in Rawalpindi on October 12, 2003.
