KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has inducted two Boeing 737-800 aircraft in its fleet, which were acquired on wet lease from a Turkish operator, a bourse filing said on Wednesday. These aircraft were obtained for a period of three months and two similar planes are expected to join PIA’s fleet in the coming weeks. “The decision of acquiring these aircraft has been taken in order to meet the immediate shortage of planes, which was created due to the grounding of four aged A-310 aircraft at the end of 2016,” the notice read. These narrow-body Boeing A737-800 have a capacity of carrying 189 passengers in all economy configurations.
