What to do if you’re still recovering from last weekend’s food coma and don’t know what to do these next two days. Here are some of the city’s more happening ways to keep yourself entertained...

CINE WATCH

With the release of Indian films expected this weekend, Hrithik Roshan-starrer Kaabil may be heading to cinema houses very soon. Centering upon the love story of two visually impaired individuals, Rohan (Roshan) and Supriya (Yami Gautam), the film tackles the themes of rape and revenge. As far as the initial reviews of Kaabil go, Roshan’s acting is said to be the only saving grace for the film. Directed by Sanjay Gupta, the film released on January 25 worldwide and is expected to make its way to Pakistan on January 27. Meanwhile, the release of Raees and Ok Jaanu is also expected in the coming days.

In Hollywood news, XXX: Return of the Xander Cage (that stars Bollywood diva Deepika Padukone and Vin Diesel) and La La Land – the most nominated musical in Oscar history – are also playing at local cinemas.

While our cinema industry has been in trouble since cinema owners stopped screening Indian films, the release of Thora Jee Le last week only made the situation worse. The film received a lot of criticism from critics; however it is still running in cinemas. Those who want to know how bad it is can watch it if they have nothing better to do.

Shop talk: Farah Talib Aziz and Deepak Perwani open new doors

If you live in Karachi and have started shopping for spring and summer (because the brief winter is as good as over) then you may want to check out two new stores in town. Farah Talib Aziz opened her very first flagship store on E Street (within Mews) this week and it’s a treasure trove for all girly girls who loved pastels and clothes dipped in sorbet colours. It’s femininity galore! Another new boutique that opened just yesterday is Deepak Perwani and it is suited all those bindaas people who want to show some attitude in the way they dress. Also located in Clifton (behind Ocean Mall), this newly inaugurated boutique has the Deepak Perwani trademark written all over it and it is a must visit.
