This refers to the editorial, ‘A wedding’ (January 10). One cannot help but agree with the editorial with regard to the media hype and timing of the marriage which leaves a lot to be desired. There is absolutely no harm in giving good coverage but our media went overboard and made it a sickening affair by trying to go into every detail of the personal lives of the couple. This is most undesirable. Second, too much coverage killed the charm and made an otherwise happy occasion boring.
Imran Khan may have had his own compulsions but the timing of his marriage at a time when the country is reeling under terrorist attacks is odd. However, he may have wanted it to be a quiet and simple affair but the media did not allow it be so. That said we all wish Imran Khan and his wife, Reham Khan, the best of luck and a very happy and fruitful married life.
