LAHORE: The chairman of the Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) directed the company’s management on Monday to speed up efforts for development of the Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park (QAAP), where sale of industrial plots is to start soon.
The chairman, S M Tanveer, said early completion of the project will ensure that Pakistan receives maximum benefits from the European Union’s GSP-Plus facility. This will give a boost to the country’s economic growth and ultimately alleviate poverty, he added.
Tanveer said a total of 1,523 acres of land has already been acquired and is in possession of PIEDMC. The project’s master plan has been completed and the boundary wall is under construction for the start of development work.
PIEDMC had hired NESPAK for master planning and infrastructure designing of the project. A 3D model of the project has also been placed in PIEDMC for visitors, he added. He said the federal government has approved a dedicated interchange for QAAP and the process of its designing by the NHA is in progress. The QAAP is located at 20 minutes’ drive to the Motorway.
