Making headlines since the announcement of her role in Vin Diesel’s action-adventure film, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, Deepika Padukone is certainly on a roll.
But perhaps the big news is that her upcoming role in the film, which marks her Hollywood debut, will be seen by Indian fans first as the film will release in India ahead of its global release.
Padukone recently took to Twitter to confirm the news. “Thrilled to announce that xXx: The Return of Xander Cage will release in India first! before anywhere else in the world!” she tweeted.
If rumours are to be believed, Padukone’s co-star in the film, Vin Diesel, will come to India to promote the film that is set to release on January 14, 2017 in India, a full week ahead of its global release, which is January 20, 2017.
Directed by D J Caruso, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage is the third installment of the xXx franchise and is a sequel to xXx (2002) and xXx: State of the Union (2005). It will see Vin Diesel return as Xander Cage while Padukone essays the role of a huntress, called Serena Unger. The film’s official twitter handle describes her character as, “relentless and fearless”.
Alongside Diesel and Padukone, the film also stars Donnie Yen, Samuel L Jackson, Tony Jaa, Nina Dobrev, Ruby Rose and Rory McCann, among others.
