The effects of climate change are visible in Islamabad. The city used to be one of the coldest cities. The winter season would start from mid November, but now the cold hasn’t entered the city yet. No winter rains, in the current year, have been witnessed by the residents of the city. The reason of no rainfall is deforestation. Trees play an important role in climate change. Now is the need to start a campaign for trees plantation. Climate Change Division Director Irfan Tariq said that Pakistan is one of the few countries which have their own climate change policies.
Climate change posed a greater security threat to Pakistan than terrorism because it could affect temperatures, environment, economy and the future policies of the country.

Forests play a critical role in mitigating climate change because they soak up carbon dioxide that would otherwise be free in the atmosphere. Deforestation in the country is particularly rampant near more populated areas. At an alarming rate, industrial-scale producers are clearing forests causing the worst effect on environment. This has all added up to global warming – rising temperature of earth, melting glaciers and ice cap that in return is increasing the sea level up to the dangerous point, causing floods. Due to massive felling down of trees various species of animals and plants are lost. This situation impacts people’s livelihoods too..
World Wildlife Fund (WWF) has been focusing on protected areas management and sustainable forestry for more than fifty years. It works with governments and companies to promote certification for responsible forest management practices. People should grow more plants to make the environment friendly for all species. The government should start campaigns for growing hand planted forests and cutting of forests must be banned or must be replaced by young trees.
