The Peshawar tragedy demands sincere and genuine efforts from both the military and parliament to uproot terrorism, extremism and militancy from the country so that people can at least feel safe and secure. The military launched efforts on multiple fronts by simultaneously targeting the terror infrastructure and demanding a political consensus. While bringing in more rigour to the ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb, it asked the government to amend the constitution to pave the way for terrorists to be tried in military courts.
Now that the 21st Amendment has been unanimously passed by parliament, people are expecting a lot from the military in terms of eradicating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations so that no one can dare commit crime with impunity and pose a threat to Pakistan’s peace and security. We as a nation wish the military the best for this noble cause.
