With the winters in full swing, dietary disturbances are bound to take place for any average human being. The weather is cooling down, and with that, the need to regularly hydrate oneself can dissipate as it feels unnecessary to fill up when the body is already shivering with cold. And when hydration, i.e. the most basic part of any diet is not being looked after properly, the rest of the eating habits can just as easily fall apart.

In such cases, milk is the most suitable salvation for one’s diet.

How so, when the very thought of milk appears so fascinatingly lackluster? First things first: milk doesn’t necessarily have to be consumed in the same fashion as it has been suggested by parents throughout history. Most importantly, during the winters, when water intake is low and nourishment is not so well-looked after, milk can work wonders for the body given how it offers sufficient hydration and provides the necessary nutrients the body so urgently requires.

With that being said, here are three simple yet exciting ways to add milk to your diet this winter:

Milk-Based Smoothies

Smoothies can be yogurt or water based, but to boost their nutritional value, it is recommended that you add milk. With frozen fruits and other similar flavorings such as nuts added to the mix, the end result is a deliciously nutritious mini-meal which will only take a matter of minutes to put together, and can be had at any time of day. Not to mention, milk-based smoothies are highly recommended for the cold weather.

The Cereal Mix

Having the same cereal with milk can oftentimes be boring, specifically during the winters when the very thought of a boring breakfast can deepen you even further into the clutches of your bed. A fun-filled breakfast is the best way to counter this dilemma. And nothing spells fun better than a mix of cereals. Keep a variety of cereals in the pantry for the winters, including some chocolate coated rice puffed cereals as well as sugar coated fruit rings, and let the milk do its magic.

Milk for Snack

Simply a glass of warm milk with some added flavoring is a snack good enough to get you through a few hours during the cold weather. Flavored powder, honey, or hot chocolate – all of these work just fine in a glass of warm milk. And yes, when it comes to milk for snack, this includes a cup of hot cocoa before bed as well since it provides the best sleep!

One thing to keep in mind is that you should always refrain from boiling milk, as it has already been proven to destroy the milk’s nutrients. If you wish to consume warm milk, go for something like the Olper’s Milk ecolean pack which is microwavable as well.
