The traffic police of Karachi have miserably failed to prevent road accidents. The number of accidents is rising subsequently. On an average, 30,000 road accidents occur annually in the city. This comes to almost five fatal accidents every two days. The high number of accidents is because of reckless driving and untrained drivers.
Around 60 percent of drivers do not have a valid driving license. Although a lot of warnings have been given and a strict punishment has been announced, no heed has been paid. Only a small number of people involved in a road accident are able to survive. The Sindh government is requested to take serious action to put an end to reckless driving and protect the citizens of the city.
