How we follow and practice merit can be observed at some of the government departments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. If one man serves, for example, in the police department, many of his relatives will be able to get jobs in the police too.
The authorities should be asked: how is it that some vacancies are exclusively meant for members of the same family in a certain department? How can a constable manage to accommodate lots of members of his family in the police department? Do these people meet the merit criterion? This is the case in other departments as well. Let the heads of provincial government departments ensure that merit is followed and practised in all appointments. We have to eradicate favouritism and nepotism, otherwise this injustice will lead to lawlessness, disturbance and chaos.
