ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Wednesday said the PTI workers were baton-charged while their leader Imran Khan stayed put at home. He said Imrran’s push-ups carried the message of running away.
He said political workers of the country are disappointed with the decision of Imran, who is hiding behind the Supreme Court just for face-saving after turning the protest call into a thanksgiving day.
“When political workers are disappointed, only those elements get strength who believe themselves to be above politics,” he said while talking to newsmen at his chamber in the Parliament House.
The opposition leader said people came out on the call of Imran but went back disappointed and when political workers get disappointed, it always is dangerous. “Imran did not come down from the hill due to which political workers are disappointed,” he added
Shah said he had already expressed his concerns that steps of Imran strengthened Nawaz Sharif and the same had happened. “Imran is the strength of Nawaz as all of his actions strengthen Nawaz,” he added.
He said Imran had been exposed before the nation and now no one believes in him. “Imran Khan should have returned Rs100 donations which he received from his political workers to lock the capital down,” he said.
The opposition leader said Imran’s push-ups were in fact preparation for running away. He said Nusrat Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto always led protest rallies and faced baton charge and even jails. “Benazir Bhutto Shaheed faced jails and exiles and embraced martyrdom at Liaqaut Bagh among his party workers. On the other hand, Imran Khan did not come down from the hill that frustrated his party workers,” he added.
The opposition leader said the PPP had placed four demands before the government and it would be better for the government to accept these demands for the sake of democracy in the country.
Shah warned that if the government did not accept the four demands of the PPP, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will take a decision for the future of the country. “There would be another crisis for the government if it does not accept the four demands of the PPP,” he warned.
He said the ball is now in the court of Nawaz and the government has to take a decision on the PPP’s demands. He said the KP chief minister came to lock down the federal government and asked to whom he wanted to give a message mentioning Kashmir.
