Khattak says he won’t be part of locking capital down

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Sunday congratulated Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervaiz Khattak and party workers for breaking through the ‘illegal’ barricades put up by Punjab and federal governments, asking why the self-proclaimed defenders of human rights were silent on the government’s illegal crackdown on political workers.

In tweet messages, Imran said KP chief minister and his entourage were being prevented violently from exercising his democratic right to travel to Banigala. “Shameful how CM KP under attack by Punjab and federal governments. Constitution being violated shamelessly by Punjab police. Despite shelling by Punjab police, CM and PTI workers not using violence or KP police to show their commitment to peaceful protest,” he noted.

He said, “Amnesty International condemns government crackdown against PTI and demands release of all political workers. Strange, our self-proclaimed defenders of human rights remain silent on PML-N government’s illegal crackdown against political workers.”

Talking to Geo News, Pervaiz Khattak said no decision had been taken to lock down the federal capital and added if such decision taken, he would not be a part of any such move.
