Gorakh Hill Station is a tourist spot for hundreds of people. A week ago, local people came out to protest at Wahi Pandhi against the large-scale corruption and lack of facilities in the hill station. The protesters complained that hotels in the vicinity charge people high rates – Rs5,000 for a single room and Rs100 for a dish of lentil(s). They argued that no local person is given any government employment in Gorakh and the Gorakh Hill Station budget is not spent in Gorakh.
The concerned authorities are requested to modify the schedule of charges and create employment opportunities for local people. The budget should be adequately spent in the region to maintain its beauty.
