RAW, NDS backing terrors groups to hit soft targets in Pakistan, US envoy told

ISLAMABAD: National Security Advisor Lt. Gen Nasser Khan Janjua on Wednesday told US Ambassador David Hale that Afghan and Indian intelligence agencies were patronizing Afghanistan based terrorists to hit soft targets in Pakistan.

The Adviser told the US Ambassador in a meeting that terrorists who attacked the Police Training Collegewere constantly in touch with their accomplices based in Afghanistan.

The Adviser also emphasized on the need to break the nexus of Afghanistan based terrorists who were operating under the patronage of Afghanistan’s National Directorate of Security (NDS) and India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), adding that Islamabad needed US support in this regard.

He said the terrorists were being covertly supported to come and hit the softtargets in Pakistan.

The National Security Adviser stated that peace in Afghanistanwas directly linked to peace in Pakistan and political reconciliation in Afghanistan was inevitable for stability of the region.

The National Security Adviser briefed the US envoy oneffortsPakistan was making to improve the security situation by implementing National Action Plan.

The ambassador condemned the attack on Quetta’s PoliceTraining College and expressed his "deepest regrets and also offered all out help from US".

The US ambassador also apprised Adviser of the initiatives US hadtaken to improve security situation in Afghanistan.
