Harshvardhan Kapoor, son of one Anil Kapoor and brother to Sonam Kapoor, has been making news for his smoldering good looks ever since the first teaser trailer of Mirzya released.
Curiously enough, the film, a project of Rang De Basanti director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, was hailed by Bollywood insiders upon special screenings but despite the applause it has failed to make a dent on the box office since releasing several weeks ago.
The lush romance, based on the Punjab folktale of ‘Mirza Sahiba’ has failed to resonate with viewers on a massive scale.
What this means for Harshvardhan Kapoor remains to be seen but its defeat has only solidified the run of M.S. Dhoni – The Untold Story that stars Sushant Singh Rajput in the titular role and is based on the life and times of one of India’s most successful and celebrated cricketers.
Cruising to the top of the box office, the surprising hit from Neeraj Pandey is only behind Rustom and Airlift in box office figures and is well on its way to being one of the year’s biggest and most unexpected hits.
As for the younger Kapoor kid, it looks like help may be on the way with a starring role in the sequel to Mr. India, which is being produced by Boney Kapoor. Stories suggest that Anil Kapoor could be joining the cast as well, which bodes well for Harshvardhan who is also rumoured to be in the running for a starring role opposite one Deepika Padukone as well.
