Banned outfits not to be allowed to function by changing names; militants to be disarmed; brought into political mainstream; funding to be stopped; opportunities to be provided for welfare activities
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s political and military leadership has devised a three-point strategy to tackle the jihadi organisations in the country, sources informed Geo News on Thursday.
The first point aims at completely disarming these organisations and sending a clear message to their financiers to stop funding them. The second point involves providing a way for large organisations to be incorporated into the political mainstream. The third and final point of the strategy is to find ways for the promotion of moral and welfare activities of these organisations.
According to sources, a one-point strategy will be formulated to deal with banned organisations which function by changing their names. The banned organisations will not be allowed to function by changing their names.
A committee, headed by National Security Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Nasser Janjua and Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt Gen Rizwan Akhtar, has been formed, which will provide clear orders to the provinces. This committee will present its report to the prime minister in two weeks.The prime minister will also be briefed on these matters during the National Action Plan (NAP) meeting to be held on October 18.
