SRINAGAR: Both factions of the Hurriyat Conference and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) have on Sunday urged people to observe a complete shutdown on October 27 (Tuesday).
Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani appealed in a statement to all the Kashmiris residing in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan, Britain, and other countries of the world to hold demonstrations on October 27, to draw the international community’s attention towards the unresolved Kashmir issue.
“Jammu Kashmir was an independent state till October 26, 1947. India air dropped its forces on October 27, 1947, taking its control,” said Geelani.
In a statement here, a JKLF spokesman urged the people to observe a complete strike on October 27. Meanwhile, a spokesman of Hurriyat Conference (M) also called for a shutdown on October 27. He said Hurriyat had always maintained the Kashmir issue has to be resolved in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
