KARACHI: Ace Pakistan batsman Younis Khan faces a race against time ahead of the three-Test series against the West Indies after falling seriously ill.

According to reports, Younis has been hospitalised in Karachi due to dehydration and high temperature. His medical report shows low count of white blood cells, thus, doctors have advised him one week rest.

According to Geo News, the former Pakistan was hospitalised on account of low platelets.

Younis is part of Pakistan Test squad against West Indies in Dubai. However, the recent episode related to his health has put his availability in question.

Pakistan will play three Twenty20s, three one-day internationals and three Tests against West Indies in the UAE. The first twenty20 International will be played in Dubai on September 23.

Younis, who is generally regarded as the backbone of Pakistan’s batting line-up in the five-day format, has around three weeks to get fully fit as the first of their three Tests against the West Indies will get underway at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on October 13.
