ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Sunday condoled the death of soldiers of the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain in an attack on the soldiers of the coalition in Yemen.
In a message, the Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz, said unfortunately a deadly attack on the soldiers of the coalition in Yemen on Friday resulted in the loss of 60 lives, including 45 from the United Arab Emirates.
On behalf of the people and the Government of Pakistan, Sartaj Aziz wished to convey heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
He also shared the grief of the brotherly peoples and governments of the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain over the attack on their soldiers.
Sartaj Aziz said Pakistan had strongly condemned actions by the Houthis to overthrow the legitimate government of President Hadi in Yemen.
“We fully support the political objectives of the coalition to restore unconditionally the legitimate government in Yemen and withdrawal of Houthis from the territories seized by them, including Sanaa.”
Pakistan firmly believes that a peaceful settlement of the crisis in Yemen in accordance with the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2216 will significantly contribute to the efforts to promote peace and security in the region, he added.
