Queen Camilla celebrates 100 years since Winnie the Pooh came to life
Queen Camilla, ever the reader and championing authority of the Queen’s Reading Room just made a national collaboration with BBC 4, in an effort to celebrate over 100 years of the Winnie the Pooh series of books which have captivated children of all ages for decades.
The collaboration includes five newly recorded readings of the classic series by names like Sir Lenny Henry, Ambika Mod, Jim Broadbent, Toby Jones and Hayley Atwell.
A little snippet of what the collab means, specifically to the Queen as a reader, and human was also shared as part of a audio note by BBC Radio 4.
It shows her saying, “it’s a real treat to be here at Ashdown Forest, at Poof Sticks bridge and to be able to play several games of Pooh Sticks.”
“I think my first memory was my grandmother reading Winnie The Pooh. She had a stream rather like this one at the bottom of her garden with a little bridge over the top and that’s where we started playing Pooh Sticks…”
What is also pertinent to mention is that the five stories that just got transformed into audiobooks are available on the BBC UK sound series page.
