Hollywood takes aim at Zuckerberg, Musk and Altman over AI fears

Hollywood is shifting its focus toward technology leaders such as Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk and Sam Altman as concerns about artificial intelligence continue to grow. This weekend marks a film kickoff centered on the biggest figures in technology and artificial intelligence while major public concern about the industry intensifies.

Sorkin’s first social film focused on Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s founding of the company, “The Social Reckoning” , came after the 2021 leak by Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen who exposed company records.

The Box office this weekend will also see a limited edition of Alex Gibney’s nearly four-hour Elon Musk documentary called “Musk.”

Advanced screenings have generated universal praise but have also been criticized by Musk himself on X adding that the film has zero integrity.

Christmas brings “Artificial” from Neon to theaters and that the scripted film showed CEO Sam Altman and his brief from the crucial role in 2023. Altman in conversation with CNBC, stated, “ I get why people have anxiety. And also if they need to, like, project that anxiety onto someone or have a little bit of relief and poke fun at me, it doesn’t bother me.”

These films have come at a turning point as the public has grown increasingly apprehensive regarding the perils of AI and wary of the data centers that power the technology.

Hollywood has a history of releasing films that researchers have shifted public opinion. It is crucial to note that the 2004 blockbuster “ The Day after Tomorrow” was commended for elevating climate consciousness while the 2013 documentary “Blackfish” was instrumental in reshaping public discourse on marine mammal captivity.
