Josh Hartnett explains how 'Verity' co-stars turn intimate scenes into fun

Josh Hartnett has intimate scenes with both Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson in Verity.

For this, the actor explains, the intimacy coordinator, the on-set environment, and the equation the three of them developed helped smooth out the stiffness and awkwardness.

Appearing on ABC News Live Prime, Hartnett said, “So intimacy coordination played a big part, but when you’re working with amazing actors and professionals who understand the work and the writ and a director like Michael Showalter who likes to keep things alive and fun on set, we became fast friends, and so all that stuff just felt kind of goofy."

As the trio became friends quickly, the intimate, serious scenes sometimes turned goofy.

“We laughed a lot on this set, and if we were ever to make another movie together it would have to be a comedy, but obviously this one is not, so we had to keep a straight face occasionally."

Then the Oppenheimer star raved about Verity's director, Michael Showalter.

“As I said, we got along really well, and when you get along with people, and you have a director who understands what’s needed from you, you can create that chemistry sort of in a way like a puzzle."
