Pep Guardiola breaks silence after Man City’s guilty verdict: ‘I am here more than ever’
Guardiola served as manager of Manchester City from 2016 until the summer of 2026
Ex-Manchester City Manager has issued his first response after the club was found guilty in the Premier League verdict for breaching financial rules.
Pep Guardiola in his statement offered firm support to his former team in the wake of ruling against Man City.
Following Manchester City's conviction on over 100 counts of serious financial misconduct, Guardiola broke his silence with a statement on X.
He said, "I want every single Man City fan to know I am here; more than ever. I am, always have been, always will be behind my club, my owner, my chairman, Ferran, the players, staff, Enzo and you, our unique supporters.”
"Let me be clear: we will get through this together. I love you all."
Guardiola's response comes after Man City's CEO slammed the Premier League’s verdict as conspiracy theory.
In his message to staff, Ferran Soriano said, “The whole Premier League case against us is based on a single false accusation.”
‘Every other false charge that has been thrown at us comes from that simple, central and completely false accusation. Surprisingly for us and our lawyers after nearly two years the commission has issued an opinion that supports the Premier League’s conspiracy theory.”
Recently, the independent commission had found the club guilty of overstating its income by over “£830m during the nine-year period and arranging sham commercial deals with a number of sponsors between the 2009/10 and 2017/18 seasons.
Guardiola served as manager from 2016 until the summer of 2026. He stepped down in the summer of 2026, releasing an emotional farewell statement reflecting on his time at the club and noting that he knew internally it was his time to leave.
