Ternus is moving to overhaul the iPhone maker in a drive to hasten product development
Apple’s new chief executive officer, John Ternus is evaluating a comprehensive restructure of the iPhone maker aimed at refining its engineering strategy, introducing continuous improvement and driving excellence, according to a report released Tuesday.
According to reports, the early ideas under consideration include moving away from conventional spring and fall product release cycles and streamlining management between engineers and top executives.
Analysts said the management shift highlighted the pivotal function of Apple’s ecosystem in the company’s growth. The report further underlines the cost-reduction efforts while Ternus is seeking new revenue streams and crucial ways to extract more value from existing products. Ternus has hinted covertly that Apple needs to introduce products more quickly and become more experimental to remain competitive in the AI era.
Earlier, Apple entered the smartphone market with analysts asserting that its entry could push foldable devices into the mainstream, echoing its impact on smartwatches and wireless earbuds.
A Bloomberg news report showed that reductions could also affect multiple program managers, comprising around six senior directors. Further, the company made significant cuts to teams working on the Siri digital assistant and AI-related software engineering, linked to overall employee performance.
