Vikings star Justin Jefferson leaves Buccaneers game with ankle injury
Jordan Addison and Jauan Jennings are also expected to take on larger roles in Minnesota’s passing attack
Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson is questionable to return to Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after suffering an ankle injury in the first quarter.
Jefferson made two catches for 32 yards during Minnesota’s opening offensive possession but was absent when the Vikings returned to the field for their second series.
He was instead evaluated for an ankle injury inside the blue medical tent on the sideline.
FOX later showed Jefferson standing with his helmet in his hand, raising the possibility that he could return to the game.
The Vikings had not immediately confirmed the severity of the injury.
“Trying to get Justin back in there,” Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell told FOX after the first quarter.
With Jefferson sidelined, Tai Felton entered the game in his place.
Jordan Addison and Jauan Jennings are also expected to take on larger roles in Minnesota’s passing attack if Jefferson is unable to return.
