Tom Brady's last-ditch effort to save is marriage to Gisele Bündchen

A new biography reveals Tom Brady made a desperate final attempt to save his marriage to Gisele Bündchen months before their 2022 divorce.

Brady left Buccaneers training camp for 11 days, telling his coach, "I've got to take care of some personal things," and flew to a private Bahamas resort to meet Bündchen as their 13-year marriage collapsed.

His sudden absence left staff confused.

An assistant coach said, "We didn't know if he was ever coming back." When Brady returned, coach Clyde Christensen noticed the trip hadn't fixed things, saying he seemed like "an empty shell" with no joy left, just hard work.

Brady also looked unusually thin, with some around the team privately comparing his appearance to a cancer patient.

“For Tom to lose that much weight, on his frame, it was a lot,” former Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians said in the book of Brady's loss of an estimated 20 pounds. “It was very clear that the reason for the weight loss was the stress from the personal issues he was dealing with.”

“With all respect, he looked like a cancer patient with really good hair,” another coach added. “He just seemed miserable, not even close to the Tom we all loved. He was so stressed.”

The marriage had been strained for years, largely over Bündchen wanting Brady to retire and focus on family. After his 2017 Super Bowl win, she reportedly asked if it was "the perfect time to retire," to which Brady replied he was having "too much fun."

The next year, after a Super Bowl loss, she wrote him an emotional letter about needing more support at home.

Bündchen, who put her modeling career on hold to raise their children, eventually decided the marriage was over—reportedly after consulting astrology and telling Brady they weren't compatible. They announced their split in October 2022.

Bündchen remarried in December 2025 and had a son with her new husband, while Brady has been linked to Irina Shayk and Alix Earle.
