Former president expresses gratitude to Prince Harry for US visit
Prince Harry returned to the United States less than a month before he moved to the United Kingdom with his family
Former US president Bill Clinton on Friday expressed gratitude to Britain’s Prince Harry for attending the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI 2026).
Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton and their daughter Dr Chelsea Clinton convened the annual Meeting of the CGI on September 22, 23, 2026 in New York City, bringing together leaders from business, government and civil society for a meeting focused on what's working and how "we can bridge divides to solve our most urgent crises."
To attend the event, Prince Harry returned to the US less than a month before he had moved to the UK with wife Meghan Markle and the couple’s two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Bill Clinton wrote on X, “Grateful to Prince Harry for joining us at CGI 2026 and challenging us to think carefully about how we shape AI — and make sure innovation serves people.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved with Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, from California to the UK for an extended period and the children have begun school there.
Harry married Meghan Markle in a ceremony at Windsor Castle in 2018, and it was hoped his union with the former actress, whose mother is Black, would reinvigorate the historic institution.
But it was not long before cracks in their relationship with the rest of the royal family began to emerge. Two years later in March 2020, they announced they would step down from official duties and move to the US.
