Prince William’s earthshot finalist found solution for better shipping

Prince William highlighted ZEMBA's green shipping mission.

On Thursday, September 24, the Prince and Princess of Wales' official Instagram handle shared earthshotprize’s latest post on stories.

However, in the post, earthshot prize celebrated its finalist, ZEMBA and also shed light on its work to make global shipping cleaner through zero-emission solutions.

As per the caption, “Around 90% of global trade travels by sea, on cargo ships powered by some of the dirtiest fuels on the planet.”

Noting, “So ZEMBA found a solution.”

It continued, “Bringing together freight buyers from around the world, including Amazon, IKEA and Nike, ZEMBA has united 50 companies behind multi-year commitments to zero-emission shipping. These commitments give shipowners and operators the long-term certainty they need to invest in zero-emission fuels and vessels, helping accelerate the transition to cleaner shipping.”

“This is why ZEMBA is nominated for the 2026 Earthshot Prize to Revive Our Oceans,” the caption concluded.

It is worth noting here that Prince William serves as a founder and president of earthshotprize, an annual global environmental award which recognizes creative solutions of several world’s major environmental problems.
