Sydney Sweeney has been under fire for sexualizing female athletes in her ad
Sydney Sweeney's recent betting ad for Novig caused an uproar because it used the actress's sexuality for marketing.
Outcry from scores of female athletes focused on sexualizing them and using them as a marketing tool.
British track star Amy Hunt said, “Sydney Sweeney, this is what women in sport look like.”
Gracie Kramer, the U.S. gymnast, slammed the actress, stating, “Idk what Sydney Sweeney was doing, but this is what a woman in sports looks like."
Now, her Euphoria co-star Sharon Stone is also criticizing her but stops short of condemning her.
“I think that it’s up to her to take responsibility for her actions, not up to me to judge her for her actions," the actress said.
"It is up to me to be a cheerleader for the women who have made it through and become champions in women’s sports,” she added.
The Basic Instinct star, then, clearly shelved her criticism of the ad.
“We can’t denigrate women’s sports to get men’s attention so they can gamble."
Interestingly, Stone defended Sweeney when she previously landed in hot water for an American Eagle ad.
The actress, however, somewhat defended her almost nude ad.
