Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh steps out to mark Mencap’s big day
Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh celebrated a special day with Mencap.
On Wednesday, September 23, the royal family’s official Instagram handle offered glimpses into Mencap’s 80th anniversary celebration, however, in the posted series of pictures, Duchess Sophie could be seen joining the celebration, chatting and sharing laughs with Mencap members and guests.
It is worth noting here that Mencap is a UK based charity that supports people with learning diabilities and their families.
The caption highlighted, “Celebrating 80 years of Mencap.”
It continued, “Today, The Duchess of Edinburgh, Patron of Mencap, joined charity members, myth-busters and ambassadors to mark this incredible milestone.”
“For 80 years, Mencap has supported people with a learning disability to live their lives to the full and achieve the things that matter most to them,” the caption concluded.
In the comment section, royal fans showed their support, one user wrote, “She encourages people with disabilities and meets them on equal terms; that is the magic of Duchess Sophie, who has a heart of gold for people!”
While another noted, “Wonderful photos of The Duchess!!! Happy anniversary to mencap.”
For those unaware, Duchess Sophie served as a patron of Mencap since 2002.
