Jesse Eisenberg reveals why he won't play Mark Zuckerberg again

The Social Network is returning with a sequel, The Social Reckoning, but Jesse Eisenberg, who famously played Mark Zuckerberg, in the original film is not returning.

His explanation for not reprising his hit role was simple.

"For me, it just didn’t feel like something I wanted to act in again," he said.

That said, Zuckerberg was full of praise for the script director Aaron Sorkin prepared for The Social Reckoning.

“I’ve talked about it a lot, and Aaron Sorkin’s talked about it a lot, and I loved his script, and he’s a genius, and the movie I’m sure is incredible,” he shared.

His decision not to opt for the movie does not whatsoever cast doubt on the film's merits.

Instead, Eisenberg said, "But that has nothing to do with how great the movie is."

He added, "The movie will be a great, great movie, and Jeremy Strong will be amazing in the movie."

"I’m sure. I just didn’t feel like it’s something I wanted to do again," the star noted.

Meanwhile, Eisenberg has an upcoming movie, The Debut, which he said is somewhat based on his life.

“I call it autobiographical because the movie takes place in 1990 in central New Jersey, and when I was in central New Jersey in 1990, I was like Mona Friedman."

“I was so shy, I was depressed, and I didn’t have friends," the actor recalled.

But then he entered community theatre and his personality changed.

"And then I walked into this community theatre when I was seven years old, and suddenly everybody was so nice, and they hugged me.”

Aspects of his personality that were previously made fun of, for example, his curly hair.

But at the community theatre, they were praised instead.

“Going from a kid who was made fun of in school because he had curly hair, and the kids would say anything to me."

"And then I walked into the community theatre, and everybody was like, 'Your hair is amazing. Come this way, you should play with me,'" he remembered.

The Debut will hit theatres on Dec. 11.
