Tom Cruise explains why he doesn't read movie scripts himself

Tom Cruise has revealed that he does not read movie scripts himself.

The 64-year-old star recently appeared onTravis and Jason Kelce’s podcast, where he shared that he prefers hearing scripts aloud rather than reading them.

“I don’t read the scripts. I have them read it to me. I have them read it to me because I don’t want my ideas to invade it yet," said Tom.

The Mission: Impossible actor is actively involved in the creative process behind the films.

"I want to understand what is their communication. They’ve been working on it. They have things that are just there. So they come to me, and I just sit there, and I’m like, I want you to read it to me," said the Oscar winning actor.

“We get to a place where I start to understand, and I’m like, I know how to contribute to that motion. It sparks ideas," Tom continued. "I have certain ideas, certain things I’d like to play with, and then I don’t necessarily talk about it; I just do it."

The Top Gun star added, "I’m not going to sit here and say I’m going to do this, I’m going to do that. I hear all the notes. I know the lenses. know the choreography. know tonally what they’re going for.”

For those unaware, Tom is currently gearing up for the release of his new film Digger. The highly anticipated film will be released in cinemas on October 2, 2026.
