Major TV networks to stop covering Trump after White House bans CNN

The White House television press pool will stop covering President Donald Trump’s events on a rotating basis after CNN was barred from serving as a member of the pool.
According to NBC, CNN was prevented from covering Trump as the designated television pooler on Monday as the president travelled to New York for the United Nations General Assembly.
CNN reported that the other four members of the television pool, NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox, have now decided they will also stop providing pool coverage of Trump events.
The five television networks normally take turns providing coverage from presidential events on behalf of the wider White House press corps.
The move follows the White House’s decision to ban CNN, MS NOW and Politico from access.
CNN, MS NOW and Politico have said they are filing a lawsuit against Trump seeking to overturn the restrictions.
The dispute marks an escalation in tensions between the Trump administration and several major US news organisations over access to the president and the White House.
The television pool system allows a limited number of journalists and camera crews to attend events where space or security restrictions prevent the entire press corps from being present.
CNN had been scheduled to serve as the television pool network during Trump’s Monday visit to New York.
