Trump’s ‘AI force’ and ‘AI Czar’ roles explained

On Saturday, President Trump said he plans to create an AI force and appoint an AI czar to manage the administration's artificial intelligence efforts, with the proposal underscoring the White House’s primary focus on expanding AI initiatives.

Trump wrote on Truth Social, “We will ​not in any way hinder or stifle the ​Growth of this incredible Industry.”

“Rather, we will cherish it, help it, and ​watch over it, as it grows! However, we will also ​be looking for BAD, and we can do that, very easily, with our already existing Criminal and Civil Justice System.”

Earlier, Trump said that a twisted plot has been created against AI and data centers, dismissing demands for new federal AI rules and saying the United States requires only an authoritative leader to govern technology. US officials have asserted that they will raise the topic of AI in significant talks with China as the president prepares to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping next week.

The guest list underlines US-China tensions over AI, trade and technology positioning these executives at the heart of key talks.

Washington and Beijing view keeping pace in AI as crucial to their economic and military competitiveness but may remain at odds over next-generation chip allocation, and regulation of the AI industry.
