Selena Gomez finally reveals why she stepped back from music after marriage

Selena Gomez has opened up about her decision to distance herself from music.

The 34-year-old singer recently gave an interview to People magazine, in which she revealed why she stepped away from lightlight, especially after tying the knot with Benny Blanco.

Selena, who began her career in the entertainment industry at the age of 10, shared that she made the decision all by herself to focus on her personal life.

The Only Murders in the Building actress also clarified that her decision was not influenced by Benny, as he never tried to take control of her career.

“I really appreciate my husband’s advice and guidance, but he never took control of anything," said Selena.

"If anything, I wanted him to. I don’t think I would make every album with him or always do music with him," added the Calm Down hitmaker.

For those unversed, Selena exchanged vows with Benny in September 2025, and since then, she has not released any new music.

Elsewhere in the interview, the songstress also shared her views on aging.

“I don’t feel like it’s a bad thing. Getting older has been so fun," said Selena. “I’m not scared at all."

"I love getting older. Things are going to change and things are going to sag, but you’re alive," she added. "I think age is just a number in many ways."
